Everett is 1 year old

This time last year I was preparing to take home my sweet little boy. I remember the thoughts going through my head of "Are they really going to let me take him home?!" This year has flown by. This past year has filled my heart with so much joy. I can't remember the time or feeling before being a mommy. Being a mommy was something I always wanted to be. I guess because I have such a good relationship with my mom I wanted to share that bond and love with one of my own.

We celebrated Rett on his actual birthday. The whole week leading up to his birthday and the days following have been hard. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE where Rett is at. I LOVE every day with him. I miss that little baby and just want to soak in every minute. Looking at my nephews (that are in Kindergarten!!!) it reminds me just how quickly the time goes by. I feel like they were just born! I remember holding them and placing the Armor of God on them and remembering the love that I felt for them then and there. I just want to put Rett in a bubble! But just as Rusty always says:

"Don't grieve the past, but be thankful for the memories it has given you."

So here's to many more memories with my sweet boy. We love you Rett and we couldn't imagine our lives without you!

A little pre-birthday present time. Rusty's mom had given all of Rusty's old Curious George things. Rett loved them!

A monkey that Grammy and Poppy bought Rett. He kept giving it kisses!

                                                          Cooks busy in the kitchen!

My sister in law made these sweet cupcake toppers that had Curious Geroge coming out of a present and read "Hooray it's your birthday! Everett is 1!"

I made this banner; it was just circles cut out and sewed together. It had his past 11 month pictures with George.

All of Rusty's Curious George toys made great decorations.

Little Isaac

Rusty's mom, dad, niece, and nephew came up as a surprise! What a special treat!

The plate I made while visiting my sis!

He devoured it!

The next day all the family left but my mom and step dad stayed until the afternoon. What a special treat. We decided to go to the pumpkin patch. Rett loved it. Last year we took him with Kelley and Bella and he was just 3 weeks old. This time he loved being pushed in the car and watch all the kids playing!

To my sweet baby Everett,

God has been so gracious by trusting us to be your parents. We acknowledge that you are His and that we just have this short time to teach you about Him and love you the best of our ability. You have a spirit about you that radiates joy, laughter, and excitement. Your love for life is contagious. Your excitement in even the smallest thing speaks right to my heart. I am honored to be walking through this life with you. I know that daddy and me may fail you at times but we continue to seek the Lord in how to raise you. You are a treasure my little Rett and I love you more!

Love mommy

  2. Love this post. Your letter to Rett made me tear up and reminded me of a conversation we had while you were pregnant about feeling like your children are borrowed. I'm so sure now that those moments in the nursery rocking chair were/are heaven sent and bring me closer to God. Amazing how much love a mother's heart can hold.
