2 Month Pictures and Christmas Countdown

Here are some pictures I meant to post with Everett's 2 months post. He's weighing in at 12 pounds and we go for our 2 month checkup on January 2nd. I'm very eager to hear all of his measurements and where he plots on the grafts! He's only 2 months but I can barely put his 3 months clothing on! Thank goodness for older sisters that had boys! They have been life savers!

Look at those kissable lips!

As for Christmas, we are getting ready in this house! We got Everett's stocking from PBK the other day. He's the only one with an official stocking.
You can see Rusty (blue on right), mine (green on left) and Toby's (red on right) stockings.

Our tree... it always remains crooked because Toby jumps in it and attempts to climb it. No literally... jumps into it!
Only 6 more days! Are you all done with your shopping?

Toby

And I forgot to mention that Toby is doing well too.

2 Months Old

Today Everett is 2 months old! I am amazed by how quickly the time has flown by. Currently he is:

-Holding his head up
-Can bring his fist to his mouth and suck
-Smile (and I love this!)
-Coo and sometimes in response to you cooing

He loves his bath time and cries when he has to get out. He only screamed during his first bath, but has loved them since.

This past weekend Rett and I took our first trip together. We went to a wedding in Lexington KY and stayed with my sister. Both my mom and other sister were there. It was the first time the cousins all met Rett and they were so excited! While we were there we went to one of my niece's dance recital. She is taking ballet and did so great. She was so excited we were all there just for her!

Precious.
A short post... we'll get more pictures up later. Rett has been asked a great question:

To guide santa's sleigh... we told him he was too young.

Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving, we decide to host at our house. I have now gained more respect for what my mom had to do every year for us. It was so much work to do a turkey! Thankfully my husband took on this job while Rett and I watched:)

Our table set up. We had little foam turkeys with everyone's names on it. We had the girls make their own turkeys.

Rusty's 2nd masterpiece: homemade apple pie. Ummmmm!

Rusty's masterpiece: After

Our niece and good friend's little girl decorated Christmas cookies while the cooking was finishing up.

We have so much to be thankful for: a job (this time two years ago, Rusty was unemployed), our marriage, family, community and friends, and of course little Rett. We are so grateful that the Lord has intrusted us with all that He has given us.

On black Friday, despite my desire to be with what Rusty calls commercial America and shop, we decided as a family to cut down our first family Christmas tree. What a treat! I have always wanted to do something like this! We actually got to choose our tree and Rusty cut it down! It will be so fun when Rett can cut down the tree with his dad.

Christmas tree shopping makes Rett exhausted!
So I am sitting in my living room looking at our beautiful tree and smelling the sweet aromas of Christmas. Bring on the Christmas season!

6 weeks old and counting

So I am amazed at people that have children and can keep up their blogs. I haven't mastered that talent yet...

We've been getting ready for Thanksgiving this year at our house. We'll have Rusty's sister and niece along with some friends that are in town.  I'll be sure to post some of our "firsts"; it being our first to host a holiday.

Rusty's family came in for a week long visit. It was amazing how quickly the time went by. We enjoyed having Rusty's parents here and were such a HUGE help. Rett got some great quality time with Poppy and Grammy.

Rett got to meet his cousins from VA for the first time.

Naturals...

We bleed a little redneck around here.

A wonderful family dinner.

This picture cracks me up!

Rett is growing so much. He unfortunately had his first cold a couple of weeks ago; but was such a sport during it all. I took him to the doctor, who reassured that it was not in his lungs and mostly upper airway. I have to say that being a NICU nurse I am not afraid of the bulb syringe and I got the task done quickly when needed. He weighed 9 lbs 15oz. I can't believe how much he has grown of the past couple of weeks. He is going to be 6 weeks old tomorrow!

Rett transitioned into his own crib which has helped mommy and daddy sleep a little bit better. At a month, I knew that it was necessary. He sleeps anywhere between 2 to 4 hours. Those midnight feedings are just the sweetest time a mommy has with her baby. I just love that little guy!

Rett has also been cooing and smiling! He is becoming more alert and focusing on objects and people. He loves his tummy time and can momentarily hold his head up!

Toby is still adjusting... he thinks all these toys are for him!

Goodbye to a season...

Rusty and I have had an answer to prayers by me being offered part time at work. I go back to work the first week of February and only have to work 1 day every other week. What a true blessing... to be able to be home with my baby and to do the work the Lord has called me to do. I unfortunately had to say goodbye to transport, which I have done for about 8 months. I have loved my position as a transport nurse but knew that this wasn't the best option for my family at this time. I hope to go back into the transport role once my family time allows. But until then, this is my priority...

Happy cooking and happy sleep!

Our little pumpkin

We have been busy enjoying our sweet little pumpkin. We spent Halloween catching up on sleep since our little guy couldn't wait for the trick or treaters to come. Rett dressed up as a pumpkin... the same costume that his cousins Reed and Brody wore!

Today, Rett and I ventured out to the zoo for the first time! I felt like such a mom! It was wonderful!
This is Rett prior to going to the zoo.

This is Rett through the WHOLE zoo trip... sleeping! Here's a picture with his favorite animal a giraffe.

Pediatrician, pumpkins, and more!

On Friday we went to our 2 week checkup. Rett had gained over a pound in less than 2 weeks! The pediatrician was very happy with how Rett looked and his weight gain. He gave us two goals before our 2 month visit; to put Rett in his own room and to go on a date. I'm more than happy to do the date thing, just not so sure about little Rett being in his own room! He seems so small for that.

After the pediatrician, Rett and I ventured out to the grocery store. We didn't have many things to buy so we were in and out quickly. Rett was so great and didn't fuss at all. I know alot of this has to do with the newborn phase, but I'll take it!

On Thursday, Rett turned 2 weeks old! I can't believe how much he has already changed. He is starting to sleep in 3 hour intervals at night and learning a schedule. I just ordered the book Baby Wise (as suggested by alot of friends) and have The Happiest Baby on the Block. I'm hoping to be able to guide Rett in all of us getting some more sleep.

Our sweet friend Laurel came to meet Rett. Laurel has been a good friend since college and pivotol in my walk with the Lord. Thank you for the wonderful meal Laurel. We loved seeing you!

On Saturday, Rusty and I went to Gentry Farms with his sister Kelley and niece Isabella. Gentry Farms is a little pumpkin patch with kid activities. Although Rett was a little too young, it was so fun to get to take him to take pictures.
Our Little Pumpkin!

Well I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween. We of course will be camping out at our house passing out candy!

Thanks Gigi for my pumpkin outfit!
