Halloween and Thanksgiving

Rett last year as a pumpkin
Halloween was wonderful. Rett was all dressed up in his cow costume and ready to go. Although he was a little older, he really didn't understand the purpose of the evening. Even as Rusty and I were so excited to have our Trick or Treat tax, we didn't reap much benefit. I guess when you go with little ones they can only go for so long! But we had a great time with friends and a fun second Halloween.

He was a cow this year just like his cousin Reed.

Gigi was in town!

Poor guy... he was with all females.
For Thanksgiving we went up to Lexington to be with my sister who is due this Friday! Rusty and I got up early and ran the Turkey Trot. It was so much fun! My dad and stepmom came with us and watched Rett as we ran. I love doing active things like that with my husband!

We are getting into the swing of the holidays. Trying to buy gifts, get time with friends, and most of all the birth of our Savior.

Sweet Mornings

My sweet boy continues to grow and learn something new every day. The other morning he found out how to open and close my closet doors. He loved opening and closing them! I love watching life thru new eyes! I know it looks like he is going to shut his hand in the door each time but he's a smart little guy and moves them quickly. And by the way... don't mind my commentary throughout the video!

Everett is 1 year old

This time last year I was preparing to take home my sweet little boy. I remember the thoughts going through my head of "Are they really going to let me take him home?!" This year has flown by. This past year has filled my heart with so much joy. I can't remember the time or feeling before being a mommy. Being a mommy was something I always wanted to be. I guess because I have such a good relationship with my mom I wanted to share that bond and love with one of my own.

We celebrated Rett on his actual birthday. The whole week leading up to his birthday and the days following have been hard. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE where Rett is at. I LOVE every day with him. I miss that little baby and just want to soak in every minute. Looking at my nephews (that are in Kindergarten!!!) it reminds me just how quickly the time goes by. I feel like they were just born! I remember holding them and placing the Armor of God on them and remembering the love that I felt for them then and there. I just want to put Rett in a bubble! But just as Rusty always says:

"Don't grieve the past, but be thankful for the memories it has given you."

So here's to many more memories with my sweet boy. We love you Rett and we couldn't imagine our lives without you!

A little pre-birthday present time. Rusty's mom had given all of Rusty's old Curious George things. Rett loved them!

A monkey that Grammy and Poppy bought Rett. He kept giving it kisses!

My sister in law made these sweet cupcake toppers that had Curious Geroge coming out of a present and read "Hooray it's your birthday! Everett is 1!"

I made this banner; it was just circles cut out and sewed together. It had his past 11 month pictures with George.

All of Rusty's Curious George toys made great decorations.

Little Isaac

Rusty's mom, dad, niece, and nephew came up as a surprise! What a special treat!

The plate I made while visiting my sis!

He devoured it!

The next day all the family left but my mom and step dad stayed until the afternoon. What a special treat. We decided to go to the pumpkin patch. Rett loved it. Last year we took him with Kelley and Bella and he was just 3 weeks old. This time he loved being pushed in the car and watch all the kids playing!

Little pumpkin:)

To my sweet baby Everett,

God has been so gracious by trusting us to be your parents. We acknowledge that you are His and that we just have this short time to teach you about Him and love you the best of our ability. You have a spirit about you that radiates joy, laughter, and excitement. Your love for life is contagious. Your excitement in even the smallest thing speaks right to my heart. I am honored to be walking through this life with you. I know that daddy and me may fail you at times but we continue to seek the Lord in how to raise you. You are a treasure my little Rett and I love you more!

A weekend at the lake

This past weekend we went to my dad and stepmom's house to spend some time with them. They live on the lake so Rett got his first experience with the boat. I have to say this momma was really nervous but as you can see he was very much secured! Actually he could barely move his head. We had a great time with my dad and stepmom.

All the grandkids have a picture of driving the boat with grandpa.

Our good friend Matt came over to help Rusty move some things. Rett just loves his Uncle Matty! Here's Rett learning to drive Uncle Matty's van.

Next week our little guy will be 10 months old! The time has flown!

A night worth celebrating!

The chef at hard work!
This past Saturday Rusty and I had a day filled with activities. Rusty's birthday is this coming Tuesday and since our anniversary was on Thursday, we planned a full day of celebration. First we started out with a couples massage. And let me tell you it was much needed. We picked up some lunch afterwards and headed home to enjoy some Olympics. Then we left for our Date Night Dinner Cooking Class. It was so much fun! We had a chef and worked with 3 other couples to make an incredible meal. The meal consisted of mushroom stuffed pork loin, blue cheese souffle, lobster cakes, asparagus with an amazing sauce, and finished with cheese cake for dessert. It was probably one of my most favorite dates we have been on.

Making the souffle, not an easy task and one I probably won't do again.

The finished product! I plan on definitely making that pork loin and asparagus dish!

4 years ago today...

...I married my best friend. Then + 4 years + 1 cat + 1 kid + 1 dog - 1 dog (yes, really), we sure have made some changes!

Tonight we are going to one of my favorite restaurants (thanks to a dear friend gifting a certificate there). We are taking Rett with us, so it will be a family affair. Saturday I have planned a fun day for Rus and I to enjoy since his birthday is in 5 days!!

Our fourth of July

I have been meaning to post our pictures from all the festivities! We had some close friends and family over and Rusty planned several relay races. Of course my husband would plan games! I have to say I love him for that!

Even the guys got into it:)

So me and Michelle are what you would call competitive. Good thing we were on the same team!

So needless to say our team won. Then we had sparklers afterwards and watched the DC fireworks.

I love these girls!
