4 years ago today...

...I married my best friend. Then + 4 years + 1 cat + 1 kid + 1 dog - 1 dog (yes, really), we sure have made some changes!

Tonight we are going to one of my favorite restaurants (thanks to a dear friend gifting a certificate there). We are taking Rett with us, so it will be a family affair. Saturday I have planned a fun day for Rus and I to enjoy since his birthday is in 5 days!!

Our fourth of July

I have been meaning to post our pictures from all the festivities! We had some close friends and family over and Rusty planned several relay races. Of course my husband would plan games! I have to say I love him for that!

Even the guys got into it:)

So me and Michelle are what you would call competitive. Good thing we were on the same team!

So needless to say our team won. Then we had sparklers afterwards and watched the DC fireworks.

I love these girls!

Everett's Baptism

So here are some pictures from Rett's baptism. You have to excuse the pacifier. The church service took place at the start of his usual nap time. So we were grasping at straws to keep him awake and happy. He did great! Such a sweet boy!

More to come on our first forth of July!

A Murder Mystery Party

One of our good friends had a 30th murder mystery dinner party. If you haven't ever done one, I highly recommend it. It is so fun to get dressed up and become a character.

I was Molly Mol and Rusty was Nitorious Nick, the North side mob boss that everyone is afraid of and does whatever he wants. I was an aspiring actress/singer that was only with Nick because he could get me into Hollywood. The setting was the 1920's. Rusty ended up being the character that gets murdered and of course I had no clue who it was. It was such a great evening with friends!

Clearly I have no clue how to smoke a cigarette.

Everett is growing like a weed. He has gotten another tooth and eating us out of house and home! We enjoy him so much and are so thankful for the gift of little Rett.

I'm having to work a lot of weekends lately. Rusty and Everett find many things to do together. I love that they have this special time just the two of them even if it is hard to be away.

Rusty decided to experiment with pineapple.

Rett is baptized

Two Sundays ago (father's day) Everett was baptized. Our pastor Randy also asks for those of us that are walking alongside the family to come up there with them. Both Rusty and I were amazed at the stage... it was filled with our family and friends! When I was pregnant with Everett, I felt heavy to pray for community to surround him. It wasn't just up to Rusty and I to raise this child, but we truly needed a village. And I was reminded of that when I looked at all our community praying with us for Rett's salvation.

We had Rusty's family in town and my mom and step dad came in also. After the church service we had lots of grub at the Goodsell home. It was such a joyous and emotion celebration. We are so grateful for the community that surrounds us and the pivotal role they will play in Everett's upbringing.

Our sweet friends, the Haydens.

It was a wonderful Father's day too! Rett and I woke up Rusty with his gift. Once everyone left, we lounged around. It was such a great day with family and friends.

I took these pictures of Rett at a park and put them in a frame. Rusty loves pictures of family around the home so I knew this would be a hit!

We are so grateful for Rusty. He brings so much joy, laughter, love, and faith into this family. We love you Rusty!

8 months

So I'm a little behind on posting. Rett is actually 8 months and 2 weeks. I continue to be amazed at how quickly he is growing. Here are just a few things that my little man is doing:

-crawling: he is all over the place!
-pulling up
-pushing and walking with objects; this took place today! We have this stool in our kitchen and he pulled himself to a standing position and then started to scoot the stool and walk with it! I need to get him a walking toy!

Our little guy is growing big. I'm officially looking at new car seats because he's about to outgrow the infant carrier:( But I am so thankful for my healthy little guy!

Here was my 7 month picture... never got around to posting anything!

It's so hard to take a sitting shot by yourself! He's very active!

So interested in George. Before he didn't even realize he was taking a picture with a stuffed animal!

Uncle Greer

A couple of weeks ago we went to visit Rusty's Great Uncle Greer. He was like a Grandfather to Rusty since his Grandfathers' had passed or lived too far away. Since the time that I have met Uncle Greer he has welcomed me with open arms. He even gave me a nickname (which I'm sure I'm not the only girl he's given this nickname to, even though I like to think I am:)) "Little Bit" which he greets me with everytime we see him.

He holds a dear place in our hearts. So much that we wanted Rett to carry his name (or at least part of it). Everett Greer Goodsell. Such a strong mild name with so much history.

It was a long trip down to MS and a little hard on Rett but was so worth him getting to meet the man named Uncle Greer.
