Transitions

What a perfect name for this phase of life. Transitioning from the 2 of us to a family, all which can be overwhelming! This also happens to be the name of our birthing class that we started last night. It is a series of 6 classes. All of the participants are patients of the midwives at Vanderbilt and are delivering at Vanderbilt. That was something really refreshing for me to hear, because most people think it's crazy to go through a midwife, let alone deliver at Vanderbilt. But with me working there, I know that Vanderbilt is an amazing facility with great resources. Plus it helps to know some of the doctors so if you have a concern, they could just come on over from the NICU.
We are learning relaxation techniques and ways of coping with the pain for natural labor. Yes... natural. It's something I would like to try, but am very flexible with my "plans". It was fun to see Rusty in this element. It's so new for the both of us, but even newer for him! I've been to several births due to my profession, while Rusty is just learning about afterbirth. (He was alittle shocked by the placenta thing.)

Us before entering the world of birthing class.

We'll be out the next two weeks due to our instructor at the beach and then us. We look forward to more knowledge in this unfamiliar area.

  1. cute pic : ) ahhh yes the pain......i too tried to endure with reed, even having a birthing class---i didn't hold out too well :( i hope you you don't have to be induced, b/c i think it will make it more manageable. though regardless what you do or how it goes it won't matter when you hold that sweet baby in your arms and move forward to the bigger/greater transition of loving and raising this precious blessing from the Lord (and birth and labor will be become but a faint memory : )!
